The “Shit _____ Girls Say” Phenomenon

Yeah, your probably over it by now. But if there’s one thing about viral videos that stays the same is – there will always be parodies and different versions of the same iconic video to keep us busy for weeks after.

If your totally lost, recently there has been a viral video craze that has taken over the internet lately involving videos of people mocking what different types of social/ethnic/gender groups are most likely to say in different social situations. Make sense? Just keep reading.

It all started with “Shit Girls Say” – a YouTube viral video that is so ironically accurate event I’m embarrassed. Hilarious but dead on quotes are uttered by a man in women’s wig. With to date totalling over 12 million views, this video sparked many copy cats and variations. Now with a healthy amount of “Shit ____ Girls/Boys Say” videos sprawling the internet its hard not to find one that you can relate and in turn burst into laughter while watching.

Below are some of my favorites and in particular the most recent one to pop up is “Shit Miami Girls/Guys Say“. Its pretty dead on and I kinda feel silly that I even say a few of these lines. I guess that’s the point but either way the others are pretty enjoyable as well (Shit White Girls Say … to Black Girls caught me with a few as well – sorry Aja! LOL )

TITTY TUESDAY: The Ladies Of Holy Ship!

HAPPY TITTY TUESDAY! This edition is all about the “fashion” on my recent 3-day Cruise, Holy Ship. Just a quick recap: There was the craziest DJ lineup ever- Diplo, A-trak, Laidback Luke, gina Davis, Craze (305!), Steve Aoki, Tommy Lee, Fatboy Slim and more, DJ lessons with A-trak, private beach parties, blow-up things floating over every crowd, a Fools Gold rap party, music and burlesque performances, Steve Aoki at the casino, mini golf, and an unlimited semi-gross pizza buffet. One thing that Holy Ship did not lack was the lack of clothing- specifically on pirate-themed women and pretty much the whole time since the ship left the shore. Everyone was just having a great time, letting loose, and a few girls only had on pasties- shaped like stars and sea shells of course. I kept it pretty simple and rocked a normal American Apparel bikini, but some ladies let it all hang out. See below !

Familiar Pieces of Art Recreated with Barbie Twist

We all are familiar with the Barbie image. Blond, blue-eyed, fashionable, muti-talented, and the ideal figure to those who grew up playing with the plastic marvels (I’m guilty). But artist Jocelyne Grivaud has a different vision for the famous Barbie image. Inspired by the need to reinvent the classic structure of the Barbie into different forms, she recreated many of her favorite art pieces using the Barbie as her medium.

From Picasso to Nefertiti, she’s wonderfully re-created classic images into a Barbie masterpiece. Check out some of her works below followed by some of her own commentary.

The Egyptian Museum in Berlin.

She was Akhenaton’s wife, one of the last kings of the eightieth dynasty (around 1370 – 1330 B.C.). She was quite powerful under his reign. She was the most represented royal wife on bas-reliefs, posing like Egyptian Pharaohs.I’ve always been fascinated by this statue. The face is perfectly pure and the n sculptor reaches the top of his art.

“Fifteen minutes of celebrity” I like Warhol’s graphic work, the transformation of movie stars’ photos, always represented free from weak points; his black and white pictures coloured, shaping the indefinite effects of a roughly marked serigraphy.

So here come Barbie’s fifteen minutes of celebrity.

Vouge Erwin Blumenfeld (1897 – 1969)

American photographer of German origin.
He participated in the Dada movement, and began his photographic career in the early 30′s. He emigrated to the United States in 1941.

This is sublime cover of Vogue. The photo in the treatment of the face that refers to traditional geisha makeup, enhances the look so typical of 50 years, the balance is perfect typo.
The face of Barbie seems to have been directly drawn from this picture, the “discreet” and less!
PS. For those wondering, discretion is the name given to the fly side placed between the mouth and chin.

Venus de Milo

Discovered in 1820 in Milo, an island in the Aegean Sea.The supposed image of Aphrodite, goddess of love. She is currently on display at the Louvre.

Confrontation of two canons of female beauty.From ancient Greece and fantastic representation of women of 60 years, the distance is … sidereal! Transform Barbie by the coating to remove the color, the fabric drape to highlight the stomach and hips, it was really fun. I find this body of plastic so steep, so devoid of expression is what makes it so malleable. And the smile of the doll becomes a little less nunuche, once the color disappeared!

This past Saturday, as every second Saturday here in Miami, I attended the street festival dubbed, Art Walk. On this night many people from all walks of life converge into the design district and Wynwood area of Miami where galleries open their doors to the public for drinks, music, oh and of course art.

I made my way to Art Walk with a couple of old friends and saw many familiar faces. And cot’ damn was it cold! It doesn’t get cold much in Miami but this night it hit the low 60′s – what felt like 50′s – and everyone was prepared in full layers … well accept for me. I have a habit of always dressing inappropriate for the weather but I stuck it out fortunately.

By the way, I am not in love with this building I took this picture in front of, which is located in the Wynwood area called, The Wynwood Building. the stripes remind of the old O.H.W.O.W. building but remixed. Check this shit out!

Had a great time with a couple close friends and ended the night with good music. You can’t go wrong with that!
